Frequently Asked Questions
Where are Bloem Handcrafted Workshops held?
Workshops are held across the Cincinnati area. We are happy to offer private workshops, special events, and small parties at the site of your choosing— metal clay is very portable. Metal Clay workshops are perfect for wedding parties, book clubs, and special birthdays! Join our mailing list to receive updates about workshops and events, or reach out to discuss a private workshop.
What is metal clay?
Metal clay is a mixture of pure metal particles suspended in plant-based binders and water. The hydrated clay is a pliable, moldable, flexible medium that can be worked with your fingers and tools to create extremely detailed art jewelry. When the metal clay is fired in our kiln, the water evaporates and the binders burn off, leaving pure silver, gold, or bronze.
How much do your workshops and events cost?
Workshop and event fees tend to range from $80-$125 per person depending on the project scope and materials needed. Participants that schedule and help coordinate a group workshop recieve a generous discount on their own class fees.
Are materials included in the class fee?
Yes, all materials needed for the class are included in the workshop fee. You do not need to purchase or bring anything, though some participants have a specific vision for a project and choose to bring some specific textures from home.
How do I pick up my finished pieces after a workshop?
Your work will be delivered or mailed to you within 14 days after your workshop. After your event, pieces are carefully dried, smoothed, fired, and polished for you.

Where did the name “bloem” come from?
Bloem Handcrafted Studio was named in honor of my Dutch heritage. The Dutch word "bloem" translates to "flower" as well as "beauty." I travel to see family in the Netherlands as often as I can- of course making botanical molds along the way!
